(Amman, Jordan, November 12, 2017): The Indian community in Jordan recently celebrated the Diwali Festival – the biggest, brightest, and the most popular event in the Indian calendar. The event was held on November 3 at the InterContinental Hotel Amman, in association with the Indian Women Association (IWA).
Over 250 attendees – including Indian Ambassador to Jordan, Her Excellency, Mrs. Shubhdarshini Tripathi; Indonesian Ambassador to Jordan, H.E. Andy Rachmianto; Sri Lankan Ambassador to Jordan, H.E. Mr. Abdul Latiff Mohamed Lafeer; Defence Minister, H.E. Mr. Lee Caulfield of the United Kingdom’s Embassy in Jordan; and H.E. Prof. Faisal Al-Rfouh, President of the Jordan-India Friendship Society (JIFS) – all came together to celebrate the annual festival of lights, which was embodied by the event’s theme of illumination.
During the celebration, the Indian Ambassador to Jordan, Her Excellency Mrs Shubhdarshini Tripathi, expressed her happiness to be able to celebrate the festival with the Indian community in Jordan and emphasized the necessity of celebrating Diwali in a friendly and peaceful environment. The Ambassador also appreciated the efforts of all associated with the organization of the event and wished them all the best for future endeavors.

Diwali is a five-day holiday celebrated every autumn. The annual celebration brings families and communities together in a festive atmosphere, complete with delicious feasts, illustrious fireworks, gifts, and an array of activities.
